a bit more information about how to commission your dog portrait?
The following frequently asked questions may help you out.
Do
you need to see a photo of my dog before giving a quote? -Not
for a simple small head portrait of your dog- please follow the
dog
portrait price guide.
For more complicated compositions or multiple dogs, please contact
the artist.
E-mail or post a photo to the studio. (All original photos
will be returned).
Choosing
Your Dog Photos
When
choosing a photo for the artist to work from please choose
one or several that you think really sum them up or have
expressions you like. Any technical problems such as lighting
or red-eye will be corrected during painting.
This candid shot of a weimaraner breaks all the rules, but
his inquisitive and lively nature meant this photo was simply
"him" .

I
don't have any suitable photos, is it possible you can take them
of my dog?
-This can be arranged, any travel costs incurred are added to
the order. The artist is of course very happy to meet your canine
pals.
More
than one dog?
To
have the pets in the same painting -
second dog, please add 15% to the prices, third dog, please
add a total of 25%. More than 3 please contact the artist
for an individual quote for your dog portrait.

I
have several dogs, and lots of photos, but not one photo with
them all together - No problem, the artist will compose the
painting using the different photos of the dogs.
Do
you do a sketch first? -before committing to your dog painting
you will be emailed a digital sketch giving you a quick idea of
colour and layout of the dog portrait which is painted in oils
on canvas. Once approved the artist will start painting your portrait.

I
don't like the background in the photo of my dog. Can you change
it? -yes, most of the dog portraits in the gallery have been
changed. Maybe there is a colour you particularly like. View the

Do
I get to see a preview of my dog portrait before I pay? -Yes,
you will be emailed a digital photo of the finished painting to
make sure you are entirely happy with your dog portrait.

What
materials do you use?
- professional quality oil paint on stretched canvas. There
is a choice of two styles.Gallery style canvas to have unframed
and thinner width canvas suitable for framing- view
canvas styles
Do
the paintings come framed? - no, as this is a such personal choice.
In special circumstances it can be arranged.

Do
I have to pay a deposit? - yes, to secure a place in the painting
schedule, a 25% deposit is payable once painting starts. view

How
do I pay you? -Cheque or bank transfer, Paypal or credit card.
Please note for customers outside the UK, payment is by Paypal
or Credit Card only. The balance is due once you have viewed and
approved an emailed preview of the dog painting.
Is
there a cost for shipping? - For commissioned paintings up
to 16" x20" postage is £8.50, for larger paintings
and framed pastel portraits please allow £15 for secure
delivery. Rolled pastel portraits are delivered free.
For European and International customers a quote can be given
when size and destination is known. For example a painting size
9" x 12" costs £15 for delivery to the USA.For
work available for sale in the dog

How
long will a painting take? -Usually 4-6 weeks depending on
schedule, please check the contact
us page for current wait times. If you need the portrait for
a particular date please let the artist know - for example a birthday,
wedding gift or Christmas present.
Gift
vouchers are also available - This is a great idea
if you have trouble getting hold of photos, the recipient can
then arrange their painting at their own time and to their own
taste. Still surprise someone with an unusual gift - customised
to any amount.
